Apply for COAT accreditation online

Applications are completed through COAT Connect — our secure online platform, where you work through the assessment at your own pace, save as you go, and submit when you are ready.

  1. Create your account

    Register your organisation in COAT Connect. You will need your charity registration number and basic details about your governing body.

  2. Choose your tier

    Select the certification level that best reflects where your organisation is today — Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum. You can re-apply at a higher tier as your governance matures.

  3. Complete the assessment

    Work through the questions across the ten COAT principles. Each question includes guidance notes and links to the relevant New Zealand legislation. Save your progress at any time.

  4. Submit and review

    Once you have answered all the mandatory questions, submit your application. COAT reviews your responses and comes back to you with any questions.

  5. Receive your certificate

    Approved organisations receive a dated certificate, a certificate number, and permission to display the COAT Accredited mark.
